A practical guide by Dr David O'Hare: heart coherence applied to eating behaviour. For the adult who wants to work on their relationship with food.
This is not a diet book: the author announces it from the introduction onwards — "there will be no dietary advice or physical activity recommendations".

Written by a doctor, one of the leading international specialists in heart coherence, a trainer of hundreds of therapists in Europe and North America.
A mind-body method based on heart coherence: a technique for controlling the heart rate through breathing.
New edition, rethought by the author: it details specific tools — Calmexpress, Émo-Plus, D-Stress, Anti-Trac.
The back cover carries this appraisal by David Servan-Schreiber: "Brilliant in its simplicity and clarity. A book to put in everyone's hands."
To be read in order: the work, in French, is built in three parts, each of which presupposes the previous one. The author writes it himself: "Read the book, accept its progression, take the time to do the exercises, the learning. Do not rush the stages, do not skip chapters."
The three basic steps are practised as the reading goes along. Step 1: draw your breathing for 3 minutes, twice a day, to become aware of it. Step 2: breathe in Fréquence-Six — six breaths per minute, that is 18 waves in 3 minutes —, at least twice a day. Step 3: put yourself into heart coherence every day, with a 5-minute session in the morning on rising, a 5-minute session in the evening before bedtime and a 1-minute session before each meal or snack. The third part of the book then offers tools to be used once these three steps are mastered. A reader who feels dizzy during the exercise is breathing too deeply: they reduce the depth without changing the rhythm.
This work is a practice guide: it replaces neither a diagnosis nor a treatment, and comes as a complement to medical follow-up. Established overweight, obesity, an eating disorder, pregnancy, diabetes, a chronic illness or an ongoing treatment are first a matter for medical advice; in case of a persistent disorder, ask a doctor for advice.
